Hot Girls Engineer
Claire has worked in the engineering field since 2017. A lifelong Kentuckian, she appreciates the desert landscape in her new home of Arizona. Outside of work, Claire enjoys hiking, watching classic films, and keeping up with University of Kentucky basketball.
Q: What is your day-to-day life like? What are some current projects you are passionate about?
A: “The best way I can describe my job is "event planning, but make it science." I spend most of my day collaborating with other engineers across all disciplines to plan out tests for the product we are developing, and then I work in a lab setting leading the execution of those tests. I'm in a sector of aerospace engineering that gives me an opportunity to work on some cutting edge technology. We're solving problems that have never been solved before, which makes my job really exciting.”
Q: How are you breaking glass ceilings/ and helping pave the way for more women in your industry?
A: “Currently, I’m volunteering at a local school to mentor girls in STEM. It’s rewarding to help inspire the next generation to pursue this field, especially at a school with a largely Latina population that is underrepresented in STEM fields.”
Q: What does being a "hot girl" mean to you?
A: “To me, being a hot girl is about showing the world that women don’t fit into boxes. We’re not just smart OR athletic OR beautiful OR talented, we can be all of those things at the same time, and more. It’s also about lifting up and supporting other women, and recognizing that we’re all on the same team.”
